The 2026 Festival Poster is Here!
Art by Elaisa Hilliard
Here it is!
Created by acclaimed Detroit printmaker and visual artist Elaisha Hilliard, the poster reflects the festival’s celebration of Black storytelling, creativity, and diasporic cultural expression.
The artwork features a contemplative figure seated beside a vintage film projector, symbolizing reflection, imagination, and the enduring power of cinema to illuminate untold stories. Framed by the warm atmosphere of a theater setting, the design highlights A2BFF’s mission to showcase films exploring cultural narratives and the diverse experiences of diasporic communities.
The 2026 festival will present 28 films representing six countries and 10 states, bringing together independent filmmakers, artists, students, and audiences for screenings, discussions, and community events across Ann Arbor venues including the Michigan Theater, Ann Arbor District Library Downtown, and Third Mind Books.
“Elaisha’s artwork perfectly reflects the energy and purpose of the festival,” said festival founder Chris Anderson. “The image honors both the artistic legacy of Black cinema and the future of independent storytelling. We wanted this year’s poster to feel timeless, thoughtful, and rooted in community.”
Known for her bold printmaking style and culturally resonant imagery, Hilliard’s work blends contemporary design with themes of identity, memory, and African diasporic history. Her collaboration with A2BFF continues the festival’s commitment to supporting Black visual artists across Michigan.
Additional festival programming, film selections, and ticket information will be announced is coming soon.
